Present study intends to find the suitability of Bhima river water in study area for irrigation. Soil Quality Index (SQI) is judgmental tool for sustainable agriculture practice. Water quality was detected through various cationic (Ca++, Mg++, Na++, K+) and anionic (Cl-) parameters over 19 sampling stations over Bhima river from its origin to Ujjani reservoir. These parameters are used to analyse Soil Quality Indexes like EC-Salinity hazard, Kellys Index (KI), Soluble Sodium Percentage (SSP), Sodium Absorption Ratio, Scholler Index (SI) and Wilcox Diagram are calculated by arithmetic equations. The value of Electrical conductivity on sampling
sites like S6, S15,S16, S17, S18, S19 and S20was crossing the permissible limit. Therefore. This water may pose some salinity hazard in soil. Index values like KI, SSP, SAR, SI and Wilcox diagram of Bhima river below to tolerance limit and best designated use of water for irrigation. Even though at present water quality of Bhima river is healthy for irrigation but raising load of pollution across the river basin will degrade soil quality in coming decade.
