UNCOVERING OF COLOR VISION IN TENUALOSA ILISHA BASED ON EXPRESS OF DUPLICATE COLOR GENE

Abstract:
A total of 30 fish (Tenualosa ilisha) were used in this study; Isolation of genomic DNA and amplified by multiplex PCR using six sets of primers. The frequency of SWS1 was 28 with OR 14 and CI=95% (1.2-15.3 ). The frequency of LWS was 29 with OR2.07 and CI=95% (0.1-3.1). While the frequency of RH1 was29 with OR1and CI=95% (0.5-2.7). This results means that Tenualosa ilisha fish had a mixture of visual pigment which corresponding to the salinity of spawning habit predominating in the environment and also can change the effective light intensity at the receptors; light and dark adaptation change in concentration of visual pigment and modification in nervous interaction.
