A CHECKLIST OF FISH FAUNA OF RAMGANGA RIVER

For the development of fisheries resources in riverine environment, it is essential to have a thorough knowledge of the existing fish fauna, therefore a detailed investigation on fish diversity in Ramganga River of western Uttar Pradesh from Kalagarh dam to Moradabad district was carried out from June 2005 to May 2008. In present study, twenty-six species of fishes belonging to nine different families were identified out of which many of these contribute commercial fishery of the region. It was also noticed that the fish species in downstream have declined due to poor water quality.
